It came as no surprise to me when Alyson was voted Best Female hockey Player in the World in 1999; and even less of a surprise when she led the Australian team to her second Olympic Gold in Sydney 2000. I have played ice hockey for 40 years and it’s a credit to Alyson that her extreme and calculated style of hard hockey has always inspired me to appreciate and imitate her supreme athleticism on the field.
